Today, it is a year ago that our adventure in La Rosiere changed something so tremendous. Friday the 13th of March 2020 was supposed to be a nightmare, which on Friday the 13th is rumored…
In very few hours, the season ended and we only had 2.5 days to close the hotels and send our staff home in lightning speed before the borders "closed". But have those boundaries really been closed? We have always been able to come home. We are Danes, we can always come home to our country in one way or another. Anyway, at least we didn't go down without explaining ourselves first and then we went to quarantine as we were going to a summer house before we could go out and see our missing friends and family.

It was a very strange time. It was all new and "dangerous". Now we have been living with the stupid virus for a year. A year that has been filled with ups and downs…

In February 2020, we had tense stomachs and could tell friends and family that Skinetworks had offered us to run Hotel Arbina in Tignes incl. the restaurant from June 2020 until the summer of 2021 (where the hotel would then be demolished and rebuilt). When we had now chosen and said yes to it, we put our house in Allerød up for sale.

Only a few weeks later, the season ended and our stomachs were now completely worried about what should happen next. We went home, and waited for covid-19 to go away, it was probably not that bad and I wonder if we could open in the summer of 2020, we thought .. The months went by and we could see that it did not become a reality. Then it had to cut away with hotels and therefore Skinetworks closed the contract with Hotel Arbina. Where were we going then? We were quickly offered Alpe d'huez instead, as it is also a year-round destination and here we could get both Danski hotels. A plus was that we knew the hotels from a season in 13/14.

Even more months passed and we had to set a date for when we would travel. When our house was sold with takeover at the end of October 2020, it made sense that we just passed the keys on and then drove towards the Alps the same day, namely October 27, 2020. But only 12 days before departure, France declared health crisis and really many questions were put to the whole situation. Only a few days after we arrived in Alpe d'huez, new restrictions were made again and it was quickly announced (internally in Skinetworks) that we should not expect guests until week 2 or 3 at the earliest. This meant that we quickly came to an agreement, that Christmas should be celebrated in Denmark, because it would be too sad just to sit the 3 of us, in a giant hotel with room for 60 people.

Exactly one month after we arrived, on November 27, 2020, we received a call. Skinetworks has gone bankrupt. Those are the worst four words we should ever hear. We did not get much information that day and could actually almost read more information in the news. Everyone wrote to us, but we could only refer to the articles. We will never forget that date. It was a day filled with all sorts of emotions and unfortunately also disagreements. For what was to happen now?

At that time, there was still a hope that the ski season might open and we should probably be able to find some kind of job. So we kept the hope alive and only a week after the bankruptcy, it was announced that Primo Tours had acquired Skinetworks - so now there was hope ahead anyway…
