
We asked our dear followers on Instagram if they train on their ski holiday. 74% replied "No, skiing is enough".
When I think back on the skiing holidays I have been on, the answer has also been a clear no. When I think back on my four seasons, I have actually experienced quite a few guests who have gone for a run, taken a day in the fitness center or hiked up the mountain from the morning before the lifts opened, to get first tracks - yes, it's actually great training!
So even though our followers have clearly said no to training, I'm sure I can convert our guests to at least be 60/40. I would like 40% from the guests to get their heart rate up without skis or snowboards under their feet. I want to offer a morning training session on the terrace at Le Refuge.
That is my goal. I love myself and training. It was a huge challenge, last winter, that we had no gym in La Rosiere and I was a hat to get started, to train in other ways than just putting on the skis. I could easily have gone for a run or done lots of strength training with the means you could find around the hotel, or just my own weight.
One thing is training on the skiing holiday, another is the training leading up to the skiing holiday! That is clearly the most important part of it!
To get a good one ski holiday without defects is training before the skiing holiday the most important thing! I am not a trained physiotherapist, but I am actually a trained fitness instructor and therefore I can come up with some good training tips.
The exercises I can highly recommend are the ones that most skiers are probably familiar with:
- Squat
- Lungs
- "The ice skater" - jump from side to side on each leg and keep your balance, get down to your knees as far as you can.
- The plank
They are brilliant and can be made with nothing but yourself!
If you come by this winter, I guarantee you a fun and different experience on the terrace with jumping, dancing and light strength training for fun for both children and adults!
